The Millcreek Community Market kicks off its 2012 season on Thursday, July 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Historic Baldwin Radio Factory (3474 South 2300 East, Millcreek), a former radio headset factory built in the early 1900's that has been transformed into art studios. The market will run every Thursday through October 4, 2012. The market is billed as a free, family-friendly event featuring products and crafts from a wide variety of farmers, gardeners, food vendors and artists, along with live music and interactive demonstrations. Patrons can learn the basics of yoga, how to dry herbs from a garden, cultivate seeds for next year's harvest, and how to build a backyard chicken coop. Market goers can also watch pottery demonstrations and explore their creative side by learning how to make a fused glass pendant.Families are invited to enjoy live music and entertainment each week, and throw a blanket down in the newly expanded grassy area of Evergreen Park.
