One of America's best songwriters is associated with her Southern roots, but did you know that she once lived in Utah? "It's true," the 59-year-old alt-country musician said in a phone interview. "I grew up all over the South, but Utah, too." She doesn't remember her time here — she lived in Utah for a year, leaving when she was 2 — but her mother always reminds her about it for interviews. After performing a tribute to Glen Campbell at the Hollywood Bowl with other performers last month, she will be in Utah touring to promote her most recent album, "Blessed," pronounced in one syllable rather than the more self-righteous two-syllabled variation, she said. Williams, who is known for her sad songs of death and suicide, considers herself "blessed" now that she is in a happy marriage to manager Tom Overby (they were married onstage at a Minneapolis club in 2009), who largely creates her concert set lists.
