Foye, 28, averaged 11 points and 2.2 assists in 65 games (48 starts) for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2011-12 season, playing alongside newly acquired Utah point guard Mo Williams. Foye shot 39.8 percent from the field last season and 38.6 percent behind the 3-point line, helping guide Los Angeles to the Western Conference semifinals.
The 6-foot-4, 213-pound Foye was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. The former Villanova standout has averaged 11.6 points on 41.1 percent shooting from the floor during his six-year career.
Foye is expected to compete with second-year small forward Gordon Hayward, second-year guard Alec Burks and rookie Kevin Murphy for playing time in 2012-13.
Veteran Raja Bell was the Jazz's primary starter at shooting guard last season. Bell recently agreed to a buyout with Utah, though, and the Jazz entered free agency seeking to add depth at the wing positions.
Foye made $4.2 million with the Clippers last season. He'll likely be added via Utah's mid-level exception, which is worth $5 million. Foye's deal with the Jazz is reportedly worth $2.5 million, keeping Utah above the salary cap but below the luxury tax.
With Foye's addition and Bell's expected departure, Utah's roster will be set at 14 if Murphy is signed.
