Plans for tonight: Blitzkid's final run

• Horror-punk band Blitzkid, which will cease to exist this year, will play Kilby Court, 741 S. Kilby Court (330 West), Salt Lake City. Opening act: Merlins Beard. Show starts at 7. Tickets are $14, at Smith's Tix.

• Mariachi Sol de Jalisco plays traditional Mexican music, at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts, 600 E. 1100 South (in Liberty Park), Salt Lake City. Ballet Folkloriico de las Americas will perform, and slam poet Willy Palomo will perform at intermission. Show starts at 7. Free.

• The disaster epic "The Towering Inferno," starring Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, will screen at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Show starts at 9. Free, presented by the Utah Film Center.
