In Thursday's home opener, the Utah soccer team shut out Southern Utah 4-0, with all four goals coming in a span of 17 minutes.

Utah freshman Baylee Nielsen scored twice and logged an assist on a goal by sophomore Katie Taylor.

Sophomore Ashton Hall made the other goal for the Utes.

SUU goalkeeper Charly Booth made 12 saves.

BYU 1, Arizona 0 • The Cougars won in Tucson, Ariz., with a goal just 2:47 into the game by sophomore Jaiden Thornock.

Junior goalkeeper Erica Owens had five saves to preserve the shutout.
