A 20-year-old man was killed Friday afternoon in a collision on Riverdale Road in Roy.

Sgt. Curtis Gibson of the Roy Police Department said Jacob Foster was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang that was struck by a Dodge pickup. Foster, who was the only occupant of the car, was fatally injured.

Gibson said Foster tried to make a left-hand turn onto Riverdale Road from 1750 West when the pickup struck the car on the driver's side. Gibson said extrication was required at the scene. He added that he wasn't sure whether Foster was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, Gibson said.

Police said Foster made the left turn too quickly and that the other driver did not have a chance to stop. Gibson said officers won't issue any citations against the other driver.

The pickup was damaged extensively, but its driver was not seriously injured, police said.
