A Salt Lake City man who allegedly pulled a gun on two women walking their dogs last winter in Neffs Canyon could have the two felony charges against him dropped.
Jean D. Vigos, 71, entered into a diversion agreement this week in 3rd District Court. As part of the deal with prosecutors, Vigos agreed not to carry a concealed weapon or violate any laws over the next two years, at which point the two third-degree felony aggravated assault charges would be dismissed.
On the morning of Feb. 20, two women were walking their dogs near 5000 East Neffs Canyon Road, above Olympus Cove.
When a 61-year-old woman's dog approached to sniff Vigos, he kicked it and pulled out a gun, according to charging documents. Vigos threatened to shoot the dogs, then pointed the gun at the women and threatened them, the charges state.
Vigos told police he pulled out the gun because the dog was aggressive.
