While every phase of the game must be improved before the Utes face BYU on Saturday, none is getting more scrutiny outside of the quarterback position than the offensive line.

Utah's line allowed Jordan Wynn to be sacked three times and be hurried on several other occasions by the Utah State Aggies.

The Utes moved guard Sam Brenner to left tackle during Friday's game, and the senior will start there Saturday.

Junior Vyncent Jones, the backup center, will start at right guard. Senior Miles Mason, who was starting at left tackle, is listed as the backup at right tackle now behind starter Percy Taumoelau and freshman Kala Friel.

Whittingham acknowledged the line played surprisingly poor.

"It's still a work in progress, unfortunately," he said. "We'd like it to be solidified, but we haven't been able to do that. We are trying to get the continuity and right combination. We thought we had the right combination, but it turns out we didn't. We have weak links that have to get fixed."

Keeping quiet

Whittingham has decided he won't discuss injuries in the future unless they are season-ending. However, he did go into some details about the hamstring injury to safety Eric Rowe, who left Friday's game early.

Rowe is questionable for Saturday's game.

Sophomores Terrell Reese, Tyron Morris-Edwards and junior Michael Walker are competing for the starting role if Rowe can't play Saturday.

Whittingham offered no details on running back John White, who had 27 carries for 96 yards against the Aggies, but left the game momentarily after injuring his ankle.

Kruger can play

Defensive end Joe Kruger, who was ejected from Friday's game for throwing a punch, won't miss any more games for his ejection since it was considered "striking" and not "fighting," according to Pac-12 rules. Kruger could have faced an automatic suspension for one game if it was determined he was fighting.
