Beating out a host of corporate giants, International Armoring Corp. has been named the international Manufacturer of the Year.
The Centerville-based company was chosen for the honor by an independent judging panel representing The International Business Awards (IBA).
Other companies nominated included Fiat Chrysler, GM Mitsubishi, BMW and India's Tata Motors.
Nicknamed the "Stevie" for the Greek word "crowned," the award will be presented on Oct. 15 in Seoul, South Korea.
"This is a tremendous honor for the entire [International Armoring] team," said Mark Burton, president and CEO. "We have worked very hard to be recognized as a viable international company — this is good validation for such hard work. We are definitely in some very elite company."
This is the 10th year the IBA has been presented awards honoring top companies around the world.
International Armoring previously was recognized as Best International Business/North America and Best Satellite Facility for its plant in Spain.
Founded in 1993 in Ogden, International Armoring has provided passenger protection on more than 8,000 vehicles representing more than 130 different models. Its armored vehicles have been delivered to more than 50 different countries for use by prominent world figures who include heads of state, diplomats, religious leaders and corporate executives.
The company operates five international facilities.
