Utah has been under unhealthy smoky shroud for much of the week, but the state will usher in autumn with clearer skies, warm days and nippy nights.
The National Weather Service predicted that the smoke that drifted in at mid-week from wildfires within and without the state's borders would linger through Friday but be gone by Saturday, the first full day of fall. High temperatures along the Wasatch Front were expected to range into the mid- to high-80s, while in southern Utah highs were to be in mid-90s.
Overnight lows were forecast to dip into the 50s in northern Utah and 60s to the south.
Air quality on Saturday was predicted to be in the "Green," or healthy area after most of the state remained under a "Yellow," or compromised breathability grade on Friday.
Salt Lake City looked for a high of 89 degrees on Saturday, up four degrees from Friday's forecast; Ogden expected 85 and 82 degrees, respectively; Provo 89 and 85; Logan 86 and 84; Wendover 86 and 82; Duchesne 82 and 79; Cedar City 86 and 85; St. George 95 both days; and Moab 89 and 88 degrees.
