I read with disgust the comments made by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at the black tie fundraiser for Gov. Gary Herbert ("Christie slams Obama for 'feeble' leadership," Tribune, Sept. 23).

Christie's remarks describing President Barack Obama were uneducated and ignorant. He lambasted Obama for his recent statement that "you can't change Washington from the inside."

Interestingly, Gov. Mitt Romney said the exact same thing in his 2008 campaign: "I don't think you change Washington from the inside. I think you change it from the outside."

Why did Christie feel it was appropriate to give a speech that misrepresented our president's words and called him "stupid," "lame" and "feeble"? What does this say about Herbert and those who attended? If your party can't win on facts and intelligent discourse, it shouldn't win.

I'll keep for president the well-spoken, thoughtful, respected world leader. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient who works for us all.

Shame on all the gala attendees for not having Christie run out on a rail.

Vote Obama 2012.
