If you're a listener and a fan of X96's "Radio From Hell" — and who isn't? — you'll notice the soft background music that is always playing when Bill, Gina and Kerry (and occasionally Richie, who this morning amusingly talked about his upcoming road trip to Colorado) talk amongst themselves. The background music immediately lets you know what you are listening to, with its distinctive circus-esque, repetitive music that would otherwise drive you crazy if it were played at a normal volume. But somehow it works on "Radio From Hell."

I asked Richie about the music, and here is his response:

It's not really that interesting of a story. The song is a Robert Lund replica of another song that sounds almost identical. We had to have him reproduce the song so that we could have it on our podcast and not have to pay rights for it.But as to what the song is or why we play it ... It's just something to put under the show. There have been 4 or 5 different ones. It's just something so that there isn't silence.

By the way, the Big Ass Show is this coming Saturday ...
