Saddle your petrol ponies, Utah Democrats! It's time again to ride the Electoral College trail to Colorado and Nevada.

Scores of Utah Democrats are driving to Grand Junction, Colo., or Las Vegas to campaign door-to-door for President Barack Obama. These out-of-state weekend migrations began a while ago. I first participated in 2004 (to Nevada) and again in 2008 (to Colorado).

Utah's red state electors may steal our presidential votes here, but those losses will be more than offset as we energize the Democratic base in our neighboring "swing states." It worked in 2008, and it can work in 2012.

So until the Electoral College is abolished, we've got campaign trails to ride.

Giddyup, let's go!
