Two West Valley City women remained in critical condition Thursday, the day after their passenger car was T-boned by a pickup truck that allegedly had run a red light in south Salt Lake City.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said Mefia Maama, 26, and Amelia Maama, 25, were in a southbound Mazda making a left turn onto Bangerter Highway from 1820 South when the crash occurred 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Intermountain Medical Center spokesman Jess Gomez confirmed the women were still listed as critical Thursday afternoon.
No citations had been issued, but witnesses told UHP troopers than the northbound pickup truck's driver, a 57-year-old Kearns man, had run a red light just before hitting the Mazda.
Johnson said the case remained under investigation.
