The New York Times obituary for Arthur Ochs "Punch" Sulzberger, its publisher from 1963-1997, concluded with this statement by Sulzburger: "You're not buying news when you buy The New York Times, you're buying judgment."

In a world adrift in information, I read The Salt Lake Tribune and its competitor for the judgment of their reporters and editorial writers.

I wish every parent and teacher would subscribe to newspapers so the judgment in their pages could develop critical thinking skills in our young. Mr. Nelson, my sixth grade teacher at Dilworth Elementary School, did and his students benefited from using the "road map to our community," as he described newspapers.
