Police have identified a homeless man who was struck and killed as he crossed a dark street near Salt Lake City's Pioneer Park.

Salt Lake City police Det. Mike Hamideh said 50-year-old Ned Naranjo died Friday night after being hit about 9 p.m. by a pickup truck as he walked from the park across 400 West near 350 South.

Naranjo was rushed to University Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Hamideh said the accident remained under investigation on Monday.
