A Layton man has been charged with randomly assaulting a woman who was working at a Salt Lake City haunted house on Saturday.
Charging documents filed in 3rd District Court on Wednesday allege the 25-year-old was with his girlfriend at the "Nightmare on 13th Street" attraction, 320 W. 1300 South, when he entered one of the rooms and punched a female worker in the face, knocking her to the ground.
A Salt Lake City police officer who was working security at the haunted house was informed of the assault and found the woman had been punched so hard that her two front teeth were knocked back. She had to be transported to University Hospital to get them repaired.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing the defendant leave the house with blood on his hand and joking with his girlfriend about punching "that girl," according to court documents. When the officer interviewed the man, he allegedly admitted to hitting someone inside the house.
The man was booked in the Salt Lake County jail and is held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. He has been charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
