A man was critically injured after his truck clipped a car and drove through a Herriman backyard.

A female driver northbound on 5600 West pulled up to a stop sign at the intersection of Rocky Point Drive (13772 South) when a pickup truck came up behind her at a high rate of speed, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The truck clipped the car, veered to the right and drove through a fence, into a backyard and then into another fence, Hoyal said.

The truck had also rolled on to its side but managed to roll back onto its wheels.

The driver of the truck was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition. The driver in the car was treated and released at the scene with no significant injuries.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
