BYU's women's soccer team is having its best season in school history, climbing to No. 5 in the national polls with a 13-1-1 record. The Cougars' next game is tonight (Friday) at home against Gonzaga at South Field (7 p.m. MT, BYUtv). Who knows? Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper might show up. According to this USA Today story, Harper and BYU soccer player Kayla Varner are apparently close friends. Both are from Las Vegas. Next Saturday's BYU-at-Georgia Tech football game will be televised by ROOT SPORTS in Utah, the network announced Friday morning. The Oct. 27 game kicks off at 1 p.m. MT and will be available on all major cable and satellite providers in the state of Utah, according to a ROOT SPORTS release. In Utah, ROOT can be found on Comcast Channels 52 and 693 and on DirecTV Channel 684. The release says the channel on the DISH Network is to be determined. Finally, check out this 67-yard field goal kicked by Austin Rehkow in the Spokane, Wash., area. Rehkow is LDS and apparently has drawn interest from Eastern Washington University. Here's guessing BYU coaches will be giving him a call, if they haven't already.
