Plans for tonight: A bit of the ol' Jethro Tull

• The second annual Salt Lake Design Week kicks off with PechaKucha Night, in which speakers present their ideas in a 20x20 format (20 slides, 20 seconds each), at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake Tribune. Doors open at 6. The event is sold out.

• Punk-metal band Converge performs at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Torche, Kvelertak, Dustbloom. Show starts at 6:30. Tickets are $14.50, at Smith's Tix.

• Ian Anderson, from the band Jethro Tull, will play the entirety of the band's 1972 album "Thick as a Brick" and the 2012 follow-up "Thick as a Brick II," at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 8. Tickets, from $36 to $56, available at Smith's Tix and ArtTix.
