Multiple law enforcement agencies plan a road side checkpoint in Centerville on Saturday aimed at getting intoxicated drivers off the road.
Centerville Assistant Police Chief Paul Child said his officers, along with representatives of the Utah Highway Patrol and Utah Highway Safety Office, will set up the checkpoint at 800 West Parrish Lane on Saturday night through early Sunday morning. Officers also will be patrolling the broader area looking for impaired drivers.
"Wendy's Restaurant and In-N-Out Burgers in Centerville have donated meal coupons for officers to give out to all designated drivers thanking them for helping to keep our roads safe," Child said. "We also wish to express thanks to the Utah Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers for providing food support to the officers who will be working the checkpoint. Top Stop gas station continues to support this effort by allowing us to use some of their parking lot for the operation of the checkpoint."
