A career criminal and convicted child molester who once was listed on the Utah Department of Corrections' "Most Wanted" list will be paroled from prison in February on one condition: He moves to Iran within 30 days of his release.
Parvis Marcel Marashi was arrested in California in August for various parole violations. His rap sheet includes charges of burglary, theft, possession of a controlled substance, vehicle burglary and sexual abuse of a child. He served seven years in the Utah State Prison before being paroled in September 2011, but then failed to comply with his probation terms.
In a parole hearing held Sept. 19, Marashi expressed his desire to return to his homeland once he is freed. The board agreed, saying he must do so within a month of leaving prison on Feb. 19. It also said that within two weeks of arriving in Iran, Marashi must send certified proof of his residency in the country. Marashi may not return to the United States without prior written authorization from the board, the decision states.
