A 67-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday afternoon in a three-car accident in Millcreek.

The man was driving his Volkswagen south on State Street when he went through the 3900 South intersection about 1:50 p.m. But a northbound Subaru turned left through the intersection at the same time, and the two collided, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

It's not yet clear whether one of the vehicles ran a red light or failed to yield, Hoyal added.

The crash caused the Volkswagen to veer right and strike an eastbound Toyota Camry that was making a right turn onto State Street. The Volkswagon then ran into a pole.

The man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition with face and arm injuries, Hoyal said. No one else was hurt, he said.

The crash is still under investigation.
