C'mon, did you really think the Detroit Tigers would win the American League? I know they were preseason favorites, but it's been 28 years since they won an ALCS.

Did you really think that the San Francisco Giants - down three games to one to the St. Louis Cardinals - would come back and win the National League?

I sure didn't.

But here we are with the Giants hosting the Tigers in Game 1 of the World Series (6 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13).

The Tigers are the favorites, according to the oddsmakers. We'll see what happens.

Also tonight, we get the debut of The Houstons: On Our Own (7 p.m., Lifetime). And it's sort of sad and pathetic to see Whitney Houston's family attempt to profit from her death.

Elsewhere on TV ...

Survivor: The Philippines (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): This is weird - the two tribes work a deal in the midst of a reward challenge.

The Middle (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): While learning to drive, Sue runs over Axl's foot.

Animal Practice (7 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): George feels threatened by Jill. They're all threatened by ratings - this show has been canceled and is just playing out the string.

Nature (7 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7): A look at snowy owls in Alaska.

Arrow (7 p.m., CW/Ch. 30): One of Oliver's targets is killed.

Guys with Kids (7:30 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Lydia forbids Nick from putting up his Halloween decorations.

Criminal Minds (8 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): A killer is amputating limbs from his victims.

Modern Family (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Mitch and Cameron throw a Halloween costume party.

Law & Order: SVU (8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): A kidnapping seems a lot like one 13 years earlier.

Supernatural (8 p.m., CW/Ch. 30): Sam and Dean look into a strange murder in a college town.

Suburgatory (8:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Tessa attracts the attention of the Chatswin witch.

CSI (9 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): A famous music historian is murdered.

Nashville (9 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Rayna learns she's facing financial ruin.

Chicago Fire (9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Casey has a difficult decision to make.

NOVA scienceNOW (9 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7): The human brain is examined.

Tonight Show (10:35 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): President Barack Obama is Jay Leno's guest.

South Park (11 p.m., Comedy Central): Stan's father is ruining Halloween for him.

Key & Peele (11:30 p.m., Comedy Central): Oooh - one of the sketches features Harriet Tubman free running.
