State colleges: BYU volleyball wins WCC game over San Diego

The BYU women's volleyball team beat San Diego 25-12, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18 on Wednesday in Provo, led by 12 digs and nine blocks from Jennifer Hamson.

Women's basketball

New Mexico Highlands 67, Utah Valley 62 • The Wolverines outshot the Cowgirls but couldn't make up a six-point halftime deficit and lost in Orem.

SUU 71, Dixie State 59 • The Thunderbirds rallied from a halftime deficit to beat the Red Storm in an exhibition in Cedar City.


BYU sophomore Devon Purser won the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. The Cougar men finished fifth.

BYU's women's team ended the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Wahiawa, Hawaii, in eighth place.
