Murray police suspect one man robbed a store, two men threatened to hurt him if he didn't and one of those two died before anyone was charged.

The man accused of robbing a Murray smoke shop told police that he and the two other men were in a vehicle outside the shop on Oct. 21. He added that one of them handed him a knife and told him to go into the store and ask the clerk for the money in her register.

He told police that the two men "told him if he didn't do what they said, they would cut him and leave him on the side of the road."

So the man walked into the shop, held out the knife and demanded the money, the charges state. He ran out the door with $543, got back in the vehicle and took off, the charges add.

A detective tracked the vehicle to a home in Tooele where he found the two men who are suspected of waiting in the vehicle. He also found the man suspected of robbing the store at the Tooele Justice Court.

The man told police that he kept $20 and gave the remaining $523 to the two men, who used it to buy heroin and methamphetamine, according to the charges. One of those two men died of an overdose on Oct. 24.

The two remaining men were charged Thursday with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in 3rd District Court.
