The senior guard for the first time put on a uniform that didn't have Loyola Marymount strewn accross his chest.
To don the Utes red and white colors, instead of the grey of LMU was different from the senior transfer. But, he got over it, and went out and had a pretty good game.
DuBois scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He played both guard positions, and most importantly he added an element of outside shooting that hasn't been there in the past for Utah.
"Coach Krystkowiak told us that it's everyone's responsibility to rebound the ball, and not just the big men," DuBois said. "I wanted to go out and help in that area."
He actually helped so much that he ended up leading the Utes in that area. DuBois figures to play a huge role with Aaron Dotson out until December with a stress fracture. His experience showed early and often with both his scoring and his playmaking on the perimeter.
"We just wanted to come out and defend and play hard," DuBois said. "We worked really hard on our physical coverage and our defensive rotations. Early on, we were just trying to stay solid and not give them any open hoops, and that turned into transition basket."
