What benefit did we get from the road expansion project along U.S. Highway 189 between the Wallsburg turnoff and Utah Highway 113 (east end of Deer Creek Reservoir). It took months to complete and lots of money.
I was happy that the Utah Department of Transportation was widening the road; it has been a problem, with the mix of slower and faster drivers and no way to pass along that lakeside route. But now that it is finished there is no passing lane going eastbound and only one short passing lane going westbound!
Why did we spend all that tax money to excavate massive quantities of soil, lay much more asphalt, place a lot of erosion control materials, paint new stripes, install rumble strips, etc., only to have almost exactly what we had before?
Talk about wasteful, out-of-control government spending.
