Authorities in Draper spent much of the day Monday searching for a third-grader who apparently decided to run away from school after he got in trouble.

He was found several hours later, and about a mile away, unharmed.

Draper police said the boy, who attends Willow Springs Elementary School, 13288 S. Lone Rock Drive (500 East), decided to leave school about 9:30 a.m. When school administrators noticed the boy was missing, they called police.

The child was found about 2:45 p.m. by a passing motorist near just east of Interstate 15, near Bangerter Highway, police said.

He was then reunited with his parents.
