Provo • As expected, Saturday night's college football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium is cold and lopsided.

At halftime, BYU leads woeful Idaho 42-7 in front of about 35,000 shivering fans doing the best they can to deal with temperatures in the 20s. At least it didn't snow or rain in the first half.

Official attendance won't be announced until midway through the fourth quarter.

About the only surprise was that Idaho scored rather easily on BYU's No. 4-ranked defense, going 70 yards in six plays on its fourth possession. But that only cut the deficit to 21-7, and BYU quickly regained control with a defensive touchdown, a 2-yard fumble return by Spencer Hadley.

Cody Hoffman caught touchdown passes of 6, 6 and 4 yards, all from Riley Nelson, in the first half.

Hadley's touchdown came after a bad snap sailed over Idaho quarterback Logan Bushnell's head, bounced once and fell into his hands near the goal line.

Freshman Jamaal Williams had touchdown runs of 9 and 10 yards for BYU, after having scored four touchdowns in the last game against Georgia Tech.
