Much to the delight of Utah's skiers and shredders, Brighton kicked off the start of Utah's 2012-13 ski season Tuesday.

The Big Cottonwood Canyon resort is the first of Utah's 14 ski areas to open this season. Several more are opening later this week after moving up their scheduled openings thanks to a weekend storm that dumped several feet of snow on the Wasatch Range.

As of Tuesday, openings of Utah's 13 other resorts were scheduled as follows*:

Snowbird and Solitude - Thursday

Alta and Brian Head -Friday

Park City - Saturday

Powder Mountain - Nov. 21

Snowbasin - Nov. 22

Canyons and Wolf Mountain - Nov. 23

Sundance - Dec. 7

Deer Valley - Dec. 8

Eagle Point - Dec. 21

Beaver Mountain - TBD

*All dates are weather permitting.
