Your town in brief: Syracuse gets new police chief

New police chief • The City Council has unanimously approved the appointment of Garrett Atkin as police chief. Atkin, a Layton Police Department lieutenant, will replace Chief Brian Wallace, who is retiring Dec. 24.

Davis County

Budget hearing • A hearing on the proposed 2013 budget will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Administrative Office Building, 61 S. Main St., Farmington. Copies of the budget are at the Office of the Clerk/Auditor at the administrative building.

West Point

Hear about the highway • The Utah Department of Transportation will give an update on the proposed West Davis Corridor at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at City Hall, 3200 W. 300 North. Visit http://1.usa.gov/alCiIq for more information about the potential transportation corridor in western Davis and Weber counties.
