The change was requested because emergency services and others have a hard time on that part of 2515 West. The street coordinate is in three subdivisions and runs in all directions; it curves at what is now Kendrick Drive and runs parallel to 3100 South for a short distance.
West Valley City plans to install three Kendrick Drive signs, including one with a directional arrow.
The council vote, on Nov. 27, came almost 40 years after Salt Lake County agreed to the Kendrick Drive name. According to a West Valley City staff report, the county planning commission approved the request in September 1973.
"Why the name was not changed is not known, but a petition from residents living along this street at that time was reviewed and approved," the report says.
