On Dec. 14, there is a benefit Christmas concert in the Springville High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Oakridge School is located in Springville (part of the Nebo School District) with only 25 students, and all of them have special needs. They range in age from eight to 22, and their disabilities vary as much as their age, including down syndrome and autism.
Benefit concerts bring significant financial assistance to the school to provide the students.
Last year, the Piano Guys, featuring Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson, performed for the school, and it was a huge success. "Every cent will be spent towards meeting the needs of the students," Teresa Gordon said on the school's blog. David Glen Hatch will appear this year. He has performed with many symphonies including those in Hong Kong, London, Paris, Vienna, and New York City. Dr. Hatch completed his BMU from Brigham Young University and MM and DMA degrees from the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri-Kansas City.
