FrontRunner commuter rail customers briefly had to resort to buses to proceed after mechanical problems brought their train to a halt Tuesday morning.
Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter said that otherwise unspecified "mechanical issues" caused a southbound train to break down near Kaysville about 6:30 a.m. UTA activated a bus bridge to take passengers between Layton and Farmington, where they reboarded another train.
By 7:30 a.m., the malfunctioning locomotive had been hooked up to another engine and towed back to the Layton station. The bus bridge was cancelled as normal FrontRunner traffic resumed. remims@sltrib.com
