Several college football All-America teams have been published the last few weeks, but the granddaddy of them all, the Associated Press All-America Team, came out on Tuesday. A couple of BYU players made the cut. Senior Riley Stephenson is the second-team punter, while junior Kyle Van Noy is a third-team linebacker. The first-team punter is Louisiana Tech's Ryan Allen, the top punter, statistically, in the country. Allen averaged 48.04 yards per punt. Stephenson, who coincidentally was not a finalist for the Ray Guy Award (top punter), had the second-best punting average in the country, 47.31 yards per punt. The only other player from an instate university honored was Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who made the first team. Former Timpview High star and BYU recruit Xavier Su'a-Filo, a guard at UCLA, also made the third team.
