Salt Lake City police have a warning for holiday partiers: find a sober driver or a taxi after the festivities, or you may end up a guest at the gray-bar hotel.
"Don't let your tidings of great joy turn to great sorrow," says Deputy Chief of Special Operations Terry Fritz. "As people celebrate the season, we ask that they drink responsibly, designate a driver, and don't let friends drive drunk."
Salt Lake City motorcycle officers bearing mobile alcohol monitors have already conducted the department's first "enhanced DUI" operation of the season, on Nov. 30. Those checks resulted in 135 traffic stops, from which 10 DUI arrests were made; another 27 drivers were cited for various violations.
