BYU receiver Cody Hoffman hinted after BYU's 23-6 win over San Diego State in the Poinsettia Bowl last week that he was returning for his senior season, and on Friday he made it official. A junior, Hoffman told the Daily Triplicate newspaper in Crescent City, Calif., his hometown, that he will be back in BYU blue in 2013. Hoffman was named the offensive MVP in the bowl game after catching 10 passes for 114 yards. Barring injury, Hoffman will almost certainly become the most prolific receiver in BYU history next season. The following charts, taking information provided on the website Cougarstats.com, show that Hoffman ranks fourth on BYU's career list for receptions with 203. He's third in career touchdown receptions with 28 and fifth in career receiving yards with 2,718. In 2012, Hoffman posted the second-best receiving season (in yardage) in school history, catching 100 passes for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns.BYU Career ReceivingPlayer Years Catches Yards Average TDsDennis Pitta (2004, 2007-09) 221 2,901 13.1 21Austin Collie (2004,2007-08) 215 3,255 15.1 30Matt Bellini (1987-1990) 204 2,635 12.9 15Cody Hoffman (2010-2013 203 2,718 13.4 28Margin Hooks (1997-2000) 189 2,841 15.0 14Eric Drage (1990-93) 162 3,065 18.9 29Phil Odle (1965-67) 183 2,548 13.9 25Best BYU Receiving SeasonsPlayer Year Catches Yards TDsAustin Collie 2008 106 1,538 15Cody Hoffman 2012 100 1,248 11 Jay Miller 1973 100 1,181 8Reno Mahe 2001 91 1,211 9Dennis Pitta 2008 83 1,083 6Andy Boyce 1990 79 1,241 13Phil Odle 1967 77 971 9
