Football: Zane Beadles added to AFC Pro Bowl roster

Former University of Utah offensive lineman Zane Beadles is heading to Hawaii.

The third-year Denver Bronco guard was named as a replacement on the AFC team for the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, according to the Broncos' website. Beadles replaces New England offensive lineman Logan Mankins, who withdrew with injury. Denver wideout Demariyus Thomas will join Beadles as an AFC injury replacement after Patriots receiver Wes Welker also withrew due to injury.

Beadles, 26, was drafted by Denver 45th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. During his career at Utah, he played 51 career games, earning first-team All-Mountain West Conference (MWC) honors in his final two seasons. He also received first-team All-American honors from the Football Writers Association and College Football News as a senior and was chosen as the 2009-10 MWC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The former Hillcrest High star did not miss a game during his high-school playing days with the Huskies.

Beadles posted on his Twitter account Tuesday morning: "Just realized that 3 years ago this week I was at the Senior Bowl, now I'm headed to the Pro Bowl! So blessed and thankful for everything!"

Beadles and Thomas will join Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, cornerback Champ Bailey, linebacker Von Miller, defensive end Elvis Dumervil in Honolulu later this month.
