Idaho State Police investigators say they are considering possible charges against an Idaho teenager who collided head-on with a semi-trailer rig driven by an Utah trucker.
The accident occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 84 near Jerome, Idaho. ISP says the 17-year-old male was driving the wrong way eastbound on the westbound lanes in a Chevrolet Traverse crossover SUV at the time of the crash.
Martin Steele, 51, of Salt Lake City, tried to swerve his two-trailer semi to avoid the collision, but the teen's vehicle still struck the rig's first trailer. The Traverse came to a stop on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes, while the semi halted in the left lane, in effect blocking all westbound lanes of I-84.
