The Tribune's article on daylight saving time focused mostly on its small economic impacts ("Does daylight saving time cost Utahns money? Study says yes," Tribune, March 10). I find the financial side of DST to be irrelevant.
Because of DST, thousands of Utah kids can practice and play soccer in the spring and fall. Families can enjoy summer evenings a little longer. Senior citizens who have difficulty driving at night can stay out an hour later.
Whining about losing one hour of sleep is like refusing to take a wonderful trip because you will have to adjust to a time zone change going both ways.
Even though the weather doesn't change, for me the beginning of DST signals the end of winter. I look forward to it every year and hate to see it go in the fall.
