Exceptional contributions to Salt Lake City's downtown will be recognized in the 18th Annual Downtown Achievement Awards, presented by the Downtown Alliance during the Alliance's annual meeting on June 28.

Awards will be presented to a group, company or individual who has made a significant contribution to downtown, helping to build a more dynamic and diverse community that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment.

The contribution must be for accomplishments located within Salt Lake City's Central Business District (located within the boundaries of 400 South, 700 West, North Temple Street and 300 East). Award winners may include commercial, residential and retail developers, small businesses, business associations and districts, downtown-based companies and nonprofit organizations, government organizations and officials, performing arts groups along with individual artists, musicians and other performers, sports and entertainment organizations, downtown residents, visitors, commuters and other supporters. Visit downtownslc.org/achievement and fill out an application with a description of 250 words explaining how the nominee has made an exceptional contribution to downtown Salt Lake City. The entry deadline is April 12, 2013.

Past award winners include: The Downtown Merchants Association, City Creek Center, Gallivan Plaza /RDA, The Twilight Concert Series, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Utah Jazz, The Eccles Foundation, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, KUTV 2News, Clark Planetarium, The Gateway, Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival, The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, Salt Lake Art Center, Zephyr Club, Utah Opera Company, Repertory Dance Theatre, Ririe Woodbury, Gallivan Plaza, Living Traditions Festival, Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation, Temple Square Concert Series, Utah Arts Festival, Simmons Radio Group, Salt Palace Convention Center, KRCL, and Salt Lake City Arts Council.
