Want a mug shot of someone who was arrested? Be prepared to swear that it will not be placed on a Web site that charges the individual to remove it.

Legislators gave final approval Thursday to HB408 to make such a requirement in an attempt to crack down on a scam that Salt Lake County Jim Winder says is spreading.

Winder said the county itself had been posting mug shots online, but stopped when it discovered that they were being copied and published on other Web sites that would charge the individual up to $500 to have them removed.

The Senate passed the bill 25-1 and sent it to Gov. Gary Herbert for his signature.
