Civics Central: Backyard bees and chickens discussed in Murray, HAM radio in South Weber

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Government agencies have until 24 hours before a meeting to post their agendas, so check back as this schedule will be updated. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

American Fork City Council • Will review and take action on an ordinance amending Sections 17.5.128 (Signs), 17.6.115 (Billboards), and 17.12.219 ("S" Definitions) of the city development code; Tuesday, March 26, 7:30 p.m., 31 N. Church St., American Fork. View the American Fork agenda.

Bluffdale City Council • Will consider a resolution regarding leasing of city owned property; Tuesday, 7 p.m., March 26, 14350 S. 2200 West, Bluffdale. View the Bluffdale agenda.

Centerville City Council • Will hold a special financial planning work session; Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m., City Hall, 250 N. Main St. Before that meeting, council members will meet at Whitaker Home next to City Hall at 6 p.m. for a tour.

Centerville Planning Commission • Will consider a final site plan for a second office building and parking structure next to Management and Training Corporation (MTC), on Lot 202 of the Centerville Corporate Park Amended Subdivision, 550 N. Market Place Drive; Wednesday, March 27, 7 p.m., City Hall, 250 N. Main St., Centerville. View the Centerville Planning Commission agenda.

Clearfield City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a park impact fee plan and park capital facilities plan; Tuesday, March 26, 7 p.m., 55 S. State St., Clearfield. View the Clearfield agenda.

Clinton City Council • Has canceled its Tuesday, March 26, meeting.

Davis County Commission • Will award a contract for work on 850 West, from 3800 South to 4100 South, in Bountiful; Tuesday, March 26, 10 a.m., Davis County Administrative Office Building, 61 S. Main St., Farmington.

Draper City Council • Will meet at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at 1020 E. Pioneer Road in Draper. Council members will then proceed to Park City to tour the Snyderville Basin Field House, then tour the University of Utah Field House in Salt Lake City. View the Draper agenda.

Herriman City Council • Will hold a hearing on a proposal to appropriate $10,000 for the Miss Herriman Scholarship Pageant; Thursday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., 13011 S. Pioneer St., Herriman.

Kaysville Planning Commission • Will hold a hearing on a proposal to rezone 2.11 acres at approximately 1000 S. Angel St. from A-1 (Light Agriculture) to R-1-LD (Single Family Residential); Thursday, March 28, 7 p.m., Municipal Center, 23 E. Center, Kaysville.

Logan Parks and Recreation Department • Will hold a meeting to get public input on parks and trails; Thursday, March 28, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., City Hall Community Meeting Room, 290 N. 100 West, Logan.

Midvale Planning Commission • Will hold a public hearing to consider the Nelson office/laboratory facility at 7301 S. Bingham Junction Blvd.; Wednesday, March 27, 7 p.m., Council chambers, City Hall, 655 W. Center St., Midvale. View the Midvale agenda.

Murray City Council • In conjunction with the city's Community and Economic Development Division, will hold a public open house regarding residential chicken coops and backyard beekeeping; Tuesday, March 26, 6-8 p.m., Spartan Cove in Murray High School, 5440 S. Ogden City Council » Will discuss five-year capital improvements plan, will also take action on the new social hall definition that would expand areas of the city where businesses could feature live music on Tuesday, March 26, 6 p.m., 3rd floor Council chambers, Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Orem City Council » Will hold a public hearing on the projected use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for fiscal 2014 on Tuesday, March 26, 6 p.m., 56 N. State St., Orem. View the Orem agenda.

Salt Lake County Council • Will receive an update on plans for a new office(s) for the County District Attorney; Tuesday, March 26, 1:30 p.m., Room 2003, North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. State. View the Salt Lake County Council agendas.

Sandy City Council • Will vote, in its capacity as the Redevelopment Agency board, on a resolution to purchase property at 9952 S. Monroe St.; Tuesday, March 26, at approximately 5:15 p.m., 10000 Centennial Pkwy., Sandy. A council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. View the Sandy agenda.

South Jordan Planning Commission • Will hold public hearings regarding Daybreak subdivisions, an Intermountain Homecare office and a Harvest Village retail pad; Council chambers, City Hall, 1600 W. Towne Center Dr., South Jordan. View the South Jordan agenda.

South Weber City Council • Will consider adoption of a HAM Radio Plan; Tuesday, March 26, 6 p.m., 1600 E. South Weber Drive, South Weber. View the South Weber agenda.

Utah County Commission • Will consider a proposed Agriculture Protection Area submitted by Ryan Holt for 24.88 acres; Tuesday, March 26, 9 a.m., Administration Building, 100 E. Center St., Provo. View the Utah County agenda.

West Jordan City Council • Will hold a public hearing to consider allowing second-hand thrift stores as a permitted use in the planned community zone, will also consider increasing utility rates to fund future improvements; Wednesday, March 27, 6 p.m., 3rd floor Council chambers, City Hall, 8000 S. West Valley City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a request to rezone approximately 2.24 acres at 3128 S. 6400 West from Agricultural to Single-Family Residential; Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m., 3600 S. Constitution Blvd. (2700 West). View the West Valley City agenda.
