Provo • It is somehow fitting that the Saint Mary's and BYU women's basketball teams are meeting again this season, Wednesday in a National Invitation Tournament third-round game at the Marriott Center. The Gaels (22-10) and Cougars (23-10) are as evenly matched as any two teams in the country, it would appear.

Tipoff is at 3 p.m., and the game will be televised by BYUtv. The winner will meet the winner of Thursday's Utah-Pacific game in the WNIT quarterfinals either Saturday or Monday.

BYU and Saint Mary's tied for third in West Coast Conference play, with each team winning on its home court for the second straight year. Both were bounced in the WCC semifinals earlier this month, BYU by Gonzaga and Saint Mary's by San Diego.

"We know each other pretty well," BYU coach Jeff Judkins said after the Cougars defeated San Diego State 69-58 on Saturday in a second-round game.

Saint Mary's advanced by defeating Northern Colorado 68-58 in Greeley on Sunday.
