The Unified Police Department on Thursday identified a Sandy man who died in a snowboarding accident at Brighton Ski Resort.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said a skier found David Sitek, 26, tangled in a tree about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The skier called for help and the Ski Patrol responded, bringing Sitek down to the resort clinic. Paramedics were unable to revive him.

Sitek's remains were turned over to the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine an official cause of death. The specifics of the accident remained under investigation, though Hoyal said Sitek was wearing a helmet at the time of his crash.
