Who wouldn't traipse through quicksand to get back their golf ball?

It's not unusual to see a casual golfer at your local public course going through incredible measures to retrieve a golf ball. Why? Because for some reason, over time, it has become a source of pride for hackers to never end a round with fewer golf balls than they started with.

Sometimes, though, even for the most stubborn 24-handicappers, it's best just to admit defeat.
