The financial services website GoBankingRates.com has honored an Idaho Bank and a Utah credit union for their community efforts.

Intermountain Community Bank in Idaho took first-place honors in the Financial Institution Awards for exceeding its industry peers in all categories. Ogden-based America First Credit Union finished runner-up.

The credit union participates in a number of community programs designed to improve financial literacy and the well-being of residents. Its efforts included distributing more than $18,000 to seven organizations last year, as well as providing shoes for more than 700 children in Utah and in Nevada, using more than $41,000 in donated funds.

Intermountain Community Bank excelled in providing incentives and services to customers, and in community involvement.

Last year, the bank contributed $153,641 and nearly 2,600 volunteer hours to causes and organizations such as local food banks and animal shelters in 2012 alone.
