Basketball: Utah Prospects U-17 makes LV Easter Showdown tourney final

The Utah Prospects, a club basketball under-17 team, lost in the championship game of the Platinum Bracket at the Big Foot Hoops Las Vegas Easter Showdown last week. The Prospects defeated Southern California All Stars Red and Houston Hoops in their pool. Houston Hoops is ranked No. 8 nationally by Five-Star Hoops. The Prospects then defeated Simply Fundamental YMCA, Southern California All Stars White and Marcus Banks Hard 2 Guard before meeting up with Houston Hoops in the championship game. Houston won the rematch, 57-48. The Prospects team consists of Davis High's Abel Porter, Bountiful's Sam Merrill, Trevor Lloyd and Pere Leseuer, Roy High's Brekkott Chapman, Orem High's Dalton Nixon, Woods Cross' Luke Jowers and Jared Stutzman of Bonneville High in Idaho. The team is coached by Lynn Lloyd and Peter Harrison.
