Clearfield police are seeking the public's help in locating a hit-and-run driver who struck a 12-year-old girl in a crosswalk.

The girl escaped life-threatening injuries, despite being thrown into the windshield of the vehicle that hit her late Thursday afternoon in the intersection of Main Street and 300 North, police said.

The Standard-Examiner, quoting the girl's unidentified grandmother, said the girl was taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain. By Friday, she had been released.

Witnesses told police that the car was possibly a late-model silver Pontiac Grand Am. Police said the car sustained windshield damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clearfield police at 801-525-2806.
